Getting started

What is Manamancer?

Manamancer is a Magic: The Gathering deck-building workspace. You can search real card data, build and organize decks, check format rules, inspect statistics, playtest opening hands, track a collection and wish list, and share decks. The Commander AI Agent and deck generation are available on every account with AI credits remaining; the paid Pro and Max plans add many more monthly AI credits, premium support, and other paid features.

Which deck formats are supported?

The deck builder supports Commander, Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, Alchemy, Historic, Timeless, Brawl, Historic Brawl, Pauper Commander, and Canadian Highlander. The conversational Agent, full-deck generation, and primers are currently Commander-only.

Do I need an account?

No account is needed to browse the home page, search cards, explore public decks, view public profiles, or open a shared public deck or wish list. Sign in to save and sync decks, manage a collection and wish list, post social activity, change preferences, or use account features.

What is the difference between Free, Pro, and Max?

Free includes the core deck builder, community tools, collection value history, and a small number of AI credits, refilled every 30 days, covering the Commander AI Agent, deck generation and primers. Pro adds many more monthly AI credits, wish list price alerts, an ad-free experience, and support tickets. Max includes every Pro feature with even more monthly AI credits. Pro and Max can be billed monthly or annually; within a plan, both give the same features and the same monthly AI credits. Admin accounts include paid-plan capabilities plus site-management tools. The billing screen always shows current prices and each plan's AI credits.

Deck building

How do I create or import a deck?

Open Deck Builder or Your Decks and create a deck in the format you want. Import accepts pasted deck lists and recognized sections such as Commander, Sideboard, and Maybeboard. You can also paste a supported deck-site URL; Manamancer fetches and normalizes the list before you confirm it.

Why did a deck URL import fail?

The source must be a supported public deck page and must allow Manamancer to fetch it. Private lists, expired links, anti-bot pages, upstream outages, or a changed site format can make an import fail. Try the site's plain-text export and paste that into Import; include the failing URL in a ticket if the problem continues.

Which export formats are available?

Manamancer can produce formats intended for common deck sites and game clients, including Moxfield or Archidekt-style text, Arena, MTGO, and plain text. A target client may not support every card or format, so review the exported list before importing it elsewhere.

How do legality and copy-limit checks work?

The selected format supplies deck size, sideboard, commander eligibility, card legality, copy limits, and special rules. Manamancer reports incomplete or illegal states without preventing you from editing. Card legality comes from the local Scryfall-backed index, while format-specific rules are implemented by Manamancer.

How do Commander, partner, and companion slots work?

Command formats provide a primary commander and, when that format and the cards allow it, an eligible partner, Background, or other second commander. Pairing and combined color identity are checked. A companion has its own slot outside the active deck count (including Commander’s 100), but still has to satisfy its deck-building condition, color identity, and format rulings. Manamancer shows legality warnings without blocking edits.

What are Sideboard and Maybeboard used for?

Maybeboard is always a staging area outside the active deck. In formats with a competitive sideboard, Sideboard participates in sideboard size, copy-limit, and legality checks; in formats without one it behaves as staging. The Commander Agent receives Sideboard and Maybeboard as staging context, not as counted active-deck cards.

Who can see my deck?

Deck visibility is Public, Unlisted, or Private. Public decks can appear in discovery and on your profile. Unlisted decks are available to people with the link but are not meant for discovery. Private decks are visible only to you. Check the visibility control before sharing a URL.

How do deck comments and their privacy work?

Anyone who can read a Public or Unlisted deck can also read its comments. Signed-in users can post, reply one level deep, and edit or delete their own comments; deck owners and admins can moderate. A Private deck and its discussion remain owner-only. Comments are social content, so never post personal, account, or payment information.

Agent & plans

Why is the Agent unavailable for my deck?

AI features currently work only with Commander decks, so another format's deck has no Agent. They are not limited to paid plans: every account can use them, provided the deployment's OpenAI service is available and AI credits remain in your current cycle. Other formats still receive the normal deck-building, legality, statistics, and playtest tools.

Can the Agent invent cards?

Agent suggestions pass a strict real-card boundary: recommended cards must come from Manamancer's local Scryfall index and are validated again before being shown as changes. That prevents fabricated card names, but strategic advice can still be imperfect—review every suggestion before applying it.

What does deck generation create?

The generator builds or reviews a Commander deck from structured choices such as commander, themes, play style, bracket, budget, owned-card pool, must-includes, and avoids. You review the proposed result before applying it. It is available on every account with AI credits remaining. Generation is not currently available for non-Commander formats.

What are AI credits?

AI credits measure your use of the AI features: the Commander AI Agent, deck generation and primers. Every plan includes monthly AI credits: a small number on Free, many more on Pro, and more still on Max; the billing screen shows how many each plan includes. The credits a request uses depend on how much the model reads and writes, so a more focused prompt and a shorter conversation usually use fewer. Account settings show the credits you have left as a whole number, rounded down, with the date they next refill; because of that rounding, a balance shown as 0 can sometimes still cover a small request. Pro and Max credits refill every month on your subscription's monthly anniversary, including on annual plans; Free credits refill every 30 days. AI credits are a service limit, not an extra invoice: they have no cash value, cannot be transferred or refunded, and unused credits do not roll over. When your Pro credits run out you can upgrade to Max; Max credits refill on your next monthly anniversary. Additional AI credits are not currently available for purchase.

What data does the Agent send to OpenAI?

Agent actions send the deck, conversation, preferences, and other context needed for that request to OpenAI. Multi-round work uses a per-run stored Responses chain that OpenAI retains for at least 30 days; one-shot calls use store:false, while ordinary API abuse-monitoring data may be retained for up to 30 days or longer when legally required. OpenAI API data is not used for model training by default unless the account opts in. See the Privacy Policy for the current details.

Cards & prices

Where does card data come from, and how current is it?

Names, Oracle text, images, printings, legalities, and much of the price data come from Scryfall. Production refreshes the rebuildable card index regularly, normally from Scryfall's daily bulk data. A newly previewed card or same-day correction may take time to appear.

Are displayed card prices guaranteed?

No. Prices are market or retail estimates from configured providers and can be delayed, missing, or different from a store's final checkout price. Foil, finish, printing, condition, language, taxes, shipping, and rapid market changes all matter. Always verify the seller before buying.

Which currencies can I display?

Card prices can be displayed in USD or CAD. USD remains the calculation currency and the client converts the display with the available exchange rate. The currency preference changes card-price presentation, not Stripe subscription billing.

How do Collection and Wish list work?

Collection records owned printings, quantities, finish and condition, and can mark owned cards while you build. Wish list tracks cards you want, priorities, target printings, and acquisition planning. Matching can distinguish exact printings from card-level ownership. Collection value history is available on every account; wish list price alerts are included with Pro and Max.

What should I do if a card or price is missing or wrong?

First confirm the exact printing, set, collector number, finish, and selected price source. Search by card name and try another printing. If Oracle or legality data is newly changed, allow time for the next index refresh. For a persistent reproducible issue, include the card details and a screenshot in a support ticket.

Account & billing

How do I upgrade, cancel, or update payment details?

Open Account settings, then Billing & usage. Choosing Pro or Max, billed monthly or annually, starts secure Stripe Checkout. An active subscriber can open the Stripe customer portal to update payment details or cancel; canceling schedules a downgrade to Free, so your plan stays active through the paid period shown there. If a renewal payment fails, paid features continue while the payment is retried, but your AI credits refill only once the payment goes through.

How do I upgrade from Pro to Max?

Open Account settings, then Billing & usage, and choose Upgrade to Max. You keep your monthly or annual billing interval and pick one of two options, both paid through secure Stripe Checkout. Pay the difference: you pay the gap between the Pro and Max prices for your interval, your renewal and refill dates stay the same, your remaining AI credits increase immediately by the difference between the Pro and Max monthly credits, and the full Max price applies from your next renewal. Start a new Max term: you pay the full Max price, your remaining credits are replaced with a full month of Max credits, your refill and renewal dates move to the upgrade date, and unused time on your Pro term is not refunded. Nothing changes until payment is confirmed, and an upgrade cancels any scheduled downgrade.

How do downgrades work?

Open Account settings, then Billing & usage, to schedule a downgrade from Max to Pro, or from Pro or Max to Free. It takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period: your next monthly renewal on a monthly plan, or your next annual renewal on an annual plan. Until then you keep your current plan and its monthly AI credits, and Billing & usage shows the pending change and its date. You can cancel a scheduled downgrade before it takes effect. When it does, the new plan's features and AI credits apply, and unused credits do not carry over. Canceling a subscription schedules a downgrade to Free the same way.

What happens to my data if my paid plan ends?

Canceling or downgrading does not delete your account, decks, collection, wish lists, or other stored account data. Your paid plan remains active through the paid period shown in Billing & usage. After a move to Free, paid-plan features and new routine ticket creation become unavailable; after a move from Max to Pro, Pro features stay available with Pro's monthly AI credits. You can still read and continue an existing non-closed support ticket; normal account-retention and deletion rules still apply.

How do I change my email, password, or profile?

Account settings lets you edit your username, email, password, profile picture, language, theme, and other preferences. Email changes may require confirmation. Use Forgot password on the sign-in screen if you cannot authenticate. Never put a password, access token, or payment-card number in a ticket.

Does my data sync across devices?

Signed-in decks, folders, collection data, wish lists, conversations, profile, and account preferences are stored with your account and sync through the server. Some interface layout choices can be device-local. Let an active save finish before closing a tab, and refresh after signing into another device.

Troubleshooting

Should I send Feedback or open a support ticket?

Use the top-bar Feedback tool for a quick product comment, feature request, or bug report; it is available to signed-in users and is reviewed as product feedback. Use a support ticket, included with Pro and Max, when you need a tracked, account-specific conversation and a response. Existing ticket threads remain available to their owner after a downgrade until closed.

What should I include in a useful ticket?

Use a specific subject, explain what you expected and what happened, list steps that reproduce the issue, and include the affected page or deck URL when safe. Screenshots help. You can choose whether to include the disclosed app, route, locale, browser, platform, and viewport context; Manamancer does not automatically attach your deck list, passwords, or payment details.

What do ticket statuses mean, and when should I expect a response?

New means received; In progress means the case is being handled; Waiting on you means support needs your reply; Resolved means no further action is expected, but your reply can reopen it; Closed is read-only. Support hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. ET. We aim for a first human response within two business days. Resolution time depends on the issue. This is an operating target, not a contractual SLA.

How do I make a legal, privacy, or data request?

Legal, privacy, and data-subject requests are available to everyone and are not a paid-plan benefit. Read the Terms and Privacy Policy, then email support@manamancer.com from an address we can use to verify the request. Do not send passwords, recovery codes, API keys, payment-card data, or unredacted sensitive images.

Is urgent contact available without a paid plan, and is Manamancer affiliated with Wizards?

Account recovery, billing or cancellation, privacy/data rights, security or vulnerability reports, abuse, legal, and accessibility requests are available to everyone at support@manamancer.com. Use that address when you cannot use a routine support ticket. Manamancer is unofficial Fan Content and is not approved or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast. Card data and images come from Scryfall; prices and seller links are third-party estimates, and an affiliate disclosure appears when a configured buy link may compensate Manamancer.

Support tickets

Pro and Max members can open an account-specific case and keep the conversation in one place. Tickets are stored in Manamancer first; email is a notification channel, not the source of truth.
