Precons is a catalog of the preconstructed decks Wizards of the Coast has sold: Commander decks, Challenger decks, Duel Decks, Planeswalker decks, Event decks, theme decks, starter and welcome products, and the box sets that shipped ready-to-play lists. Every product page shows the decks it contained as they were published, and any of them can be copied into your own account as an editable deck.
What a product page shows
A product is what was sold; a deck is what was inside it. A Commander release that shipped four decks is one product with four lists, and each list is addressable on its own so you can link to the one you mean.
For each deck the page shows the published list with its original quantities, the commander where there was one, the sideboard where there was one, and the colors the deck was built in. Cards are matched against the same card index the rest of Manamancer uses, so hovering a card shows the printing the product actually shipped rather than a generic one.
Where the data comes from
Decklists are transcribed from published sources, and every deck keeps a link back to the source it came from. Nothing on these pages is reconstructed from memory or inferred from what a deck probably contained. When a card in a published list cannot be matched against the card index, it is shown as unmatched rather than quietly dropped or swapped for something similar — a list with a gap in it is more useful than a list that hides one.
Some facts are simply missing for older products. Wizards' own decklist pages for 1990s and early 2000s releases are frequently gone, and where no source states a release date, a set code, or a price, the page says so instead of guessing.
Prices are singles values, not MSRP
The price shown for a product is the current market value of its cards, added up from the card index's per-printing prices. It is not what the product cost at retail, and it is not what a sealed copy sells for today. When any card in a deck has no price, or could not be matched to the exact printing the product shipped, the total is labelled incomplete: it is a floor, not a full valuation.
Saving a copy
Saving a deck creates a private deck in your account containing the published list, unchanged. The list is never edited to fit a format — Manamancer suggests the closest supported format for the copy and tells you why, and where the fit is imperfect the usual legality checks show you exactly what does not fit. A 30-card welcome deck stays a 30-card deck and is reported as incomplete; a Brawl deck built for a Standard that has since rotated opens with those cards flagged.
Your copy is yours: editing it does not change the catalog, and the original stays exactly as published.
